Developments in technology related to architecture, design and engineering have progressed significantly in recent years. Vertebrae’s core philosophy is to explore how this technology is evolving engineering and architecture to enhance collaboration, practicality and to provide exciting new possibilities. Optimization
We link modeling software with analysis software to determine a range of possible solutions to enhance the design intent, find material and cost efficiencies and simplify construction challenges.

With the introduction of generative and parametric design, the number of iterations within a solution space for building design challenges becomes unbounded. We explore creative algorithms utilizing evolutionary solvers to find the combination of variables that lead to optimized building performance solutions.

Parametric modeling
We use parametric modeling to help our clients rapidly explore solutions for complex designs and geometries. Each parametric model is tied to our structural analysis and BIM software. Performing structural analysis during the conceptual phase allows the team to ensure concepts that are being developed are structurally feasible and efficient. Using the links to our BIM and steel fabrication software allows us to review if complex forms are feasible for fabrication and erection, as well as share 3D models with the team to examine cohesiveness with the architectural vision.

Vertebrae examines each project and identifies areas where advanced technology and processes may be implemented and tailored to the specific challenges encountered within that project.
