Building Envelope Consultant
The Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design will soon have a new home: the historic Knox College building on the southwest edge of the downtown University of Toronto (U of T) campus. The University will retain the building’s grandeur as it demolishes a number of additions to return the building to its 1874 appearance, and builds an addition to accommodate its new tenants. U of T will also restore the roof, windows and walls to their original state while enhancing the performance of the building so that it provides a comfort level matching today’s standards for the occupants.
Challenge: U of T’s stringent schedule dictates that a portion of the building must remain occupied during the demolition phase and the construction of the new addition.
Solution: Entuitive will help orchestrate the work schedule so that the building envelope for the occupied area is not compromised during any phase of the project. Also, the plan will keep large portions of thebudget from being spent on temporary construction.
